Tim Trost is a technically skilled intellectual property litigator and registered patent attorney with a track record in handling high-stakes litigation across a spectrum of industries from pharmaceuticals to semiconductor chip-design. While primarily a patent attorney, Tim has experience in a variety of litigation contexts including founder disputes, complex fraud, professional responsibility, and antitrust matters.

Tim’s multifaceted litigation roles include conducting and defending depositions, preparing both fact and expert witnesses for trial, drafting expert reports, successfully arguing motions, and developing case strategies that best suit his clients’ strategic goals.

Prior to joining RJLF, Tim was an attorney at prominent firms such as Morrison & Foerster and Durie Tangri. Before becoming an attorney, Tim worked as an engineer in Germany for a space solar-cell manufacturer and helped produce and certify products that were later used to successfully explore Mars and the icy moons of Jupiter.

Tim earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he excelled as a Gold Honors Scholar, served as Submissions Editor for the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal, and received the USC Gould Technology Certificate.

Complementing his legal credentials, Tim holds an M.S., cum laude, in Materials Science and a B.S. in Chemistry from the Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany.
